Whey Protein

CHICAGO, March 25th, 2003

Whey Cool™ Cafe' The World’s First Whey Cool Café opened today in the Retail Concourse of the Illinois Center located at the corner of Michigan Avenue & East Wacker Drive at the heart of Chicago’s upscale business and shopping district. Customers lined up for samples of the new “healthy” desserts offered by Whey Cool LLC and to learn more about low carb, low sugar, high protein diets first hand from company founder and nutritional dessert engineer, D J Anderson.

Whey Cool has introduced an extensive line of new desserts and beverages that have extremely high BV (Biological Value) Ratings, which are a measure established by the food industry to compare the quality and nutritional value of protein sources. Each dessert also carries a variety of healthy claims such as: All Natural, Low Sugar, Low Carb, Low Calorie, Low Saturated Fat, Low Total Fat, Low Cholesterol, Low Sodium, Good for Diabetics, Good for Hypoglycemic Diets, Non-Cariogenic (does not promote tooth decay) and Heart Healthy.

Whey Cool frozen desserts contain: 93% less sugar; 93% less saturated fat; 90% less cholesterol; 76% less net carbohydrates; and 300% more protein than traditional premium ice cream.

The new food products offered include, soft serve, shakes, packaged and hand dipped frozen desserts, creamy hot protein coffee and tea beverages. Sugar-free chocolates in bulk, bars and molded shapes as well as specialty enrobed truffles and bon bons with high protein centers will be offered soon.

The first difference noted by customers attending the café’s grand opening was that the Whey Cool desserts “actually taste great,” which was a pleasant surprise to most of the people there. One customer stated “I can’t believe this is really good for me . . . it tastes so delicious.” We’ve all grown used to the fact that most foods that really taste good aren’t very healthy, and foods that are considered to be healthy just don’t taste very good.

D J Anderson spent over three years in research and development creating numerous proprietary formulae and methods of production for the wide variety of nutritional desserts produced by Whey Cool LLC. He maintained that the task was more complex than it appears to preserve the Biological Value of basic healthy ingredients while delivering superior taste, texture and satisfaction by creating foods which look and taste as good a gourmet desserts. At the Whey Cool Café service counter he engaged customers in conversations about their particular dietary needs, whether meeting a medical challenge or simply trying to lose or gain weight in a healthy fashion. “Dieting should be easy and fun,” quipped Anderson suggesting that if we learn to refrain from eating high glycemic carbohydrates and replace them with low carb, high protein desserts we can actually enjoy eating while becoming healthy.

One of the company’s goals is to introduce its whey based nutritional desserts into clinical trials to demonstrate the value of their products to the medical community and to the public in general under the guidance of board member and advisor Dr. Martha M. Daviglus, MD, PhD., an internationally recognized expert on nutrition and cardiovascular wellness.

New Whey Cool Cafés are planned for Wisconsin opening in Marshfield, Madison, Milwaukee and in Florida in Gainesville, Tampa and Jacksonville. Additional locations in major markets will be opened as resources are made available.
